  1. This is precious. I’ve built nests for birds and had them nest on my window sills (doves). I found a baby bird, days old, on the ground and fed it – for 5 years! Yes, it lived – a female Oriole. She flew free and never left me. Amazing, awesome experience.

  2. THIS PAINTING OF THE BIRD IN THE NEST BROUGHT ME TO TEARS, AS IT SO REMINDED ME OF MY LATE MOTHER, WHO WAS VERY PROTECTIVE OF ME ALSO AS I GREW UP. I REALIZED LATER IN LIFE, THAT AT THE TIME WHEN SHE SAID “NO” TO ME, SHE WAS ONLY HELPING ME TO, AS YOU DESCRIBE, HOLD ON TO PRECIOUS CHARMS, WHICH SHE ACCOMPLISHED IN ME. I NOW APPRECIATE THE GENERATION IN WHICH SHE WAS RAISED, (THERE WAS A 40-YEAR DIFFERENCE IN AGE BETWEEN HER AND I) AND RESPECT AND ADMIRE THAT GENERATION MORE AND MORE EACH DAY, AS OUR WORLD AND THESE NEW GENERATIONS FAIL TO RESPECT LIFE AS OUR PARENTS TAUGHT US TO DO. I ALWAYS MEASURE AN ARTIST’S TALENT (BE IT ACTOR OR PAINTER) IN THEIR ABILITY TO MOVE ME TO TEARS, AND THE BIRD IN THE NEST PAINTING DID SO.

  3. Dear Kim,

Thank you for speaking out about bullying. I had no idea you were an artist. What wonderful work…my favorites: Looking Back to See Ahead, Deja Vu and When Winter Ends. I’ll definitely be researching your poem turned song as I am an avid student of poetry. What a fascinating story!

    All Best,

  4. Dear Ms. Novak, I just read your response to the ugly remarks about your appearance at the Oscars – and I say “kudos”!! It is truly sad that so many in society never think twice about the consequences of their words. And that every thought that runs through their head is “newsworthy” and at the very least should be tweeted, blogged, or emailed. I’m glad you respectfully and sincerely responded to such unkindness. . . . And most of all, it was a pleasure to see your artwork. I had no idea you were an artist. Your work is beautiful! Love the colors and especially the two with dogs in them and Deja Vu and When Winter Ends.
Oh and vertigo was one of my favorite Hitchcock movies. . . . which is really kind of ironic. Because in the last year I’ve had 2 slight episodes of Vertigo – UGH! Wouldn’t wish it on my enemies :o) haha.

  5. I’ve been a fan for many years. It’s sad that there are so many mean people in the world that feel so bad about themselves, they must try and hurt others. You are beautiful now and have always been. I love your art, Self Portrait and Deja Vu are my favorites.
