Pastel
The 2010 Britt Fine Arts Poster is a print of Novak’s original pastel piece “The Magic of Music.” She describes her approach to her work, saying “Much of my art consists of surrealistic storytelling. Sometimes I like to paint pictures of trees with human faces and bodies whose gestures suggest images of my fantasies or a dream.
“Often while attending the concerts that are held under the stars by southern Oregon’s ‘Britt Music Festival’, I allow my mind to wander off into the forest that surrounds Jacksonville. I think about the trees and imagine their reaction to earth-shaking percussions, and the voices and musical instruments as they echo through the valleys and over the hills. I wonder how the forest and its creatures could not help but react with feelings and emotions as they witness these concerts?
“This painting, ‘The Magic of Music’, is where my fantasy has taken me, to a place of happy harmony – a place where music blends the folklore of the woodlands with pure freedom of expression.“
Kim,. How humble the Frog in his suit of green, just stands back, watching+ observing as natures whirlwind spins the dear rabbit up and in delight the trees sway to the breeze of Nature’s Melodious sounds . The silent Angel above the trees protectively prays.
I just saw your film “Picnic” again and I am so glad you have given and are giving your beauty to the world. You are wonderful.
Your Poetry and Paintings are so beautiful. They bring tears of joy to my eyes, as I see the Earth Angel you are, Beautiful Kim Novak, eternal and ageless as you fly like the wind through the forest. I love it too. The deer and dancing trees and rabbit and flute player are so sweet. I wish I had that painting. I love you Kim. You are so ethereal and spiritual.
I have one print framed and recently ordered another one for a Christmas gift! The print speaks to me on a very spiritual level. I love it!
The works of Kim Novak are stunning and the poetry is so insiteful. I thoroughly enjoyed her journey. Very touching and beautiful.
Kim-
I just want to say that you are a very talented woman. Your art is beautiful and you have given the world so much. Thank you for sharing your gifts. I appreciate you standing up to the bullies in Hollywood. It is an awful and unnecessary way to treat people. May you always know you are beautiful, and may you find peace and love in your art.
Blessings,
Nicole

I just received your beautiful print “The Magic of Music.” We visited the Butler Art Museum when I first heard of your paintings on display. I fell in love with “The Magic Of Music.” I can tell through your paintings that you are a very sensitive loving person. I will proudly display “The Magic of Music” in our living room. We have admired your work for a very long time, including all your movies; favorites being: The Eddie Duchin Story, Picnic, The Man with the Golden Arm, and Human Bondage. I would go Downtown to the Hippodrome Theater as soon as I knew your movie would be out. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful thoughts and I am so happy to be part of your art world. I would have loved to meet you in person. You have given a great gift to the world through your talent. God bless you.
